SOLAR COLLECTORS Lab.

TEST

The Lab staff have developed original techniques for testing solar collectors both in laboratory and outdoors.

laboratory tests

In the laboratory it is possible to characterize small optics using a beam with divergence similar to that of the sun. Standardized procedures are available, but it is also possible to carry out ad hoc measurements for measuring the optical characteristics of interest for particular types of concentrators.

The profilometry of the collectors is another branch of tests that is preferably carried out in the laboratory.
In our laboratories, measurements of parabolic profiles, characterization of heliostats and quasi-flat mirrors for secondary devices have been carried out.

outdoor test

In our laboratory there are some motorized platforms that allow the tracking of the sun and the measurement of direct radiation using a pyrheliometer.

During our activity we also studied methodologies that allow the measurement of the profile of some heliostats in the field.
